Heilig-Geist-Spital, Nuernberg I

2009.11.21
That`s how most of the tourist see Germany`s first social foundation from the 14th century - the "Heilig Geist Spital" (Hospital of the Holy Ghost). This is the part in which you find a typical Franconian restaurant with view to the river.

It is a huge complex, hosting nowerdays appartments for elder people, an activity center and the "Computer Club 50 plus", offices and...many secrets. Look out of this office window: Preparations for the Christmas Market , early in the morning. Soon it will be crowded...

Here it is always silent. An oasis in the busy citylife - one of the Medieval courtyards.

The tumbstones ("Tischgräber" - "Table-gravestones") of the founders, Konrad Groß and Herdegen Valzner. They could be saved in 1945 , when 3/4 of the town had been demolished by bombings

The "Crucification Courtyard", named after the sculptures of Adam Kraft. They are renovating the tower on the right side...there is always something to renovate in these buildings...
