59/365 - Oh Dear (Deer)!

These folks have an issue that is dear to their hearts.
There are a number of groups in our area that are protesting "deer kills" as a strategy to control deer populations.

I photographed this group yesterday as they protested at a park where I bike.

Notice how well their signs are printed. Notice how attractive the deer picture illustrates the object of their protest. Their message is clearly announced.

This photograph has been posted as a contrast with the unclear and unattractive message that is communicated by using an inflatable rat as the means of communicating a position.

I am hoping that today's post does not cause folks to go beyond the statement that I am making on the wisdom of using well printed protest signs. Yesterday's and today's posts are simply statements on protest techniques!! ;)

Lesson Learned: If you are going to protest an issue, it is beneficial to use strategies and signs that are clear and easily understood.
MARETKA88 Dan-dy shot !!!!

SheriJ I am a deer lover myself I have a small herd of 17 on my property everyday and night I love it! Killing doesn't solve a thing. I would join lookagain and stand right next to her!

helys Really interesting !
Thanks for this report :))

NellyBly Dear me....what do they suggest we do about the over population of deer that would happen if they weren't killed? I think they are the cutest and most elegant too, however they would overrun our country if "they" didn't kill them (to eat of course). I could never shoot one though :-)
NellyBly · 2011-03-01: 20:19
cameraCAPTURED Unfortunately, the rat was better "sport" if less directive. Unfortunately these deer signs remind me of the anti-abortion protests who used clear signs and vivid photos and they were ruthless in their efforts. Lesson learned: signs and rats are passive objects, that become something quite different in the hands of their protesters.

Jothindra It is said that Paul McCrtney saw a lamb at play and that instant, turned veg!
