29/366 - Striptease

Gypsy Rose Lee

Lesson Learned: Revealing your artistic “self” to others is a striptease – you remove one piece of clothing at a time – watching the onlooker’s reactions to your unfolding nakedness – deciding what piece of clothing (if any) you will take off next.
“Shoot” Exhibit – September 14, 2007

Waiting to hear – waiting to hear…

No way will I get in – no way…

First time submitting – hardly a chance.

But how cool it would be – a dream really.

And I did!!! No kidding… I did – got in…

Opening night – A fish out of water –

Me? hardly an artist/photographer – but I was there –

On the wall – people looking – at me

Me standing and watching them looking.

What are they saying? – thinking?

Wearing a name tag – like the others.

Selected Artist – ME

The wine helped me feel like I was supposed to be feeling.

“I saw your piece – very nice. What did you shoot it with?” (LOOK HERE TO SEE IT)

Pulled my point and shoot (batteries taped in) out of my pocket..

He walked away after my revelation – after all, he was a real photographer.

Another few wines – I am an artist too.

Sold my piece that opening night!

A dream opening night.

A terrible hangover morning after.
busybee Great Dan you are a real photographer, many a great shot taken with a point and shoot as we know from PB :-)

Annbramwell Great story Dan, you are definitely much braver then I am, I am far too much of a cowardly custard to exhibit anything I have created or take off my clothes for that matter..
Annbramwell · 2012-01-29: 07:32

marilynx · 2012-01-29: 07:41
Ejrodriguez Nice story:) i love it
Ejrodriguez · 2012-01-29: 07:57
lookagain Nicely composed with a great focal point! IMO, you can have all the best photography equipment in the world, but without "vision" it is nothing. Like Ansel Adams said, "The single most important component of a camera is the twelve inches behind it.”

breizh This afternoon , when driving my car, I had an "alcohol control" by "Gendarmerie Nationale" (army , equivalent police force out of cities in France) ... I was OK ! ...
Back home ...
I went and saw Gypsy Rose Lee ... look at "doorway" ... Used "google translate" but did not understood anything ...
... Few wines after ... Better ... :-))
I learned a few words more ... Now I will not drive my car ... May be Hangover Tomorrow ...
Perhaps "Bourbon" will make me understand all your lessons ... ha ha ... Meowww ...
A great post ! I hope understand everything ...

breizh · 2012-01-29: 13:31
SheriJ Wonderful eye to see this. Like your pic you sold also! It is not always the camera that makes the shot. The camera needs an operator as well.
