101/365 - Tuesday Inspiration: An Opportunity

2012.04.10

It was so curious to look into this cafe door and see all of the customers and the employee looking at their computer sceens or phones. - But I guess it's not really curious - just modern life.

Lesson Learned: In today's world, there is a better chance of delivering your "TI" lines to a potential new friend "on line" than TIing a door and entering the room in which they are seated. - It's the modern way...

The New World Social Intercourse

How – is it done – now -
To talk to…
To know…
To connect to - you ?

A chance –at last - chance
A portal – a channel -
Face to face - we can chat…
Watch lips to hear each word.

Knob turned – stomach fluttering
You are there – just inside - yet…
Not there – (really) – you…
Texting sweet nothings to another…

busybee · 2012-04-10: 05:47
equivalence people used to smoke to feel "comfortable" in public spaces; fiddling with devices has replaced it; not so bad, really; good picture

gonia · 2012-04-10: 10:59
jwendell I couldn't get used to this life either - it sometimes seems to lack of "true and deep" communication.
jwendell · 2012-04-10: 11:31
paintbox Amazing age we live in. This is a perfect illustration of the disconnect we really have with one another. I always wonder what would happen if it all stopped suddenly. Terrifying!!

DancingDolphin Nice composition on this one, Dan! I'm terrible at guessing so I'll just admire!

MoMac Can't help feeling that sometimes this Ti technology leads to lots of misunderstanding . The young have a much more complicated life because of it and it can drive them NUTS not having actual physical contact with people for social events and haven't a clue how to interact with people around them !!!!
I agree with joycephotography .
Even when the young go on holiday here it seems they need to be txting whether to friends or parents . When all that is needed is Arrived safely and getting back time etc!!!
I like to actually hear about my "kids" holidays etc when they get back to tell their experiences to me . Yet nowadays that seems to be criticised not wanting day -to- day contact. How can young growup to be independent if they are always needing reassurance for the simplest things.
Does that make me a "bad" mother?????
MoMac · 2012-04-11: 05:40
????? how very sad~ I wonder if they can communicate as well in person as over technical devices. I'm finding less and less people can. Intriguing
????? · 2012-04-11: 09:22
