I walked the 10km or so round the base of the rock, beginning at dawn. The rock turned orange as the sun began to rise and I took this picture of the moon beginning to go down.
When I first viewed it I thought it looked fake because of the vivid colours and the bright disk of the moon but I haven't touched the image at all - this is exactly as it came out of the camera. Nature really it that beautiful.
i'll testify to what davids has written about the natural vivid reds of uluru. that's just how it has always been. it's the aboriginals' sacred place. i don't think i've seen one taken from this angle before, though. it's special.
