Angel of the North

Day 1 of my road trip - I'm staying overnight in an old coaching inn which unbelievably has wireless internet access so I will post ahead while I can.

I drove 350 miles north from London and stopped en-route for a picnic at the foot of the Angel of the North - this is an astounding sculpture, the largest in Britain, standing 20m tall and with a wing span of 54m (about the same as a Boeing 747).

I love it.
