And summer arrived in the Orkneys

Day 7 of the road trip and half way through. My final day in the Orkneys and hallelujah – the sun came out. I went a bit berserk with the camera today and was quite pleased with some of the shots. Today’s itinerary took me round Scapa Flow to Stromness and then round to the west coast again (for a long walk towards Birsay – future posting because it is lovely) and back to Kirkwall via Loch Stenness and the Highland Park distillery (home of one of the best malt whiskies).

Today’s picture is something gentle rather than rugged - Loch Stenness in the sunshine. Tomorrow it’s back to the mainland and an inland route down to Inverness.
