The view across the city from outside Alexandra Palace in north London.

The tall buildings in the background (top right) are the City - you can probably make out the Gherkin. That's 7 miles away from where I was standing.

The tall buildings in the background (top left) are in Docklands - 9 miles from where I was standing.
