HDR always remind me of advertising or video game images... a little too 'in my face', sometimes interesting, but not something I'd want to look at for any length of time... not something I'd frame or put in a photo album. It reminds me of "art" one can buy inexpensively at discount stores, and doesn't feel like it has any longevity. I've browsed photo sites with lots of HDR trying to figure out what some people see in it and become very quickly bored... the subject may change but they all look the same to me, INTENSE. I'd be curious to see an image that you "like a lot" with an explanation of what it is you like. I've tried to remain open minded, but I'm just not getting it! :-)

Agreed. I'm on the fence too about HDR, but most of the time it is over-used and blown out to effect the subject and what the photographer is trying to show us. I do like the abilities it has though and I have experimented with very dark and very light conditions mixed within to get some interesting results. So...

I have a love hate relationship with HDR, still haven't found my way with it, yet. I have seen some amazing HDR's but i cant get even close.. This one doesn't look too bad, a bit too much i would say. You could try it in a church, the light and details are perfect for hdr...

this one is so colorful - like Indian food:) I like your experiments. but the most important thing is if you like it - and if you having fun in your lab. being not the biggest fan of HDR, I admit that sometimes it adds a lot. for example, I still remember some works by mugsycat.

It's good if you didn't make up your mind...that means that you are still open...for anything ...and especially for more experimenting. You are right about only one thing: sometimes it works, some other times it doesn't ...Like anything else in life ;) But when it does...it's beautiful. It's worth trying . It might not look like a "classic david's " but why not try something different, ...you might be surprised by the results. I already am ;) !

I really like the way the colours pop out at you in this shot. I also feel HDR images can look very surreal and unrealistic but then again there are occasions when this works so well - I think it really depends on the subject and the effect you're trying to create. Looking forward to seeing more of your experiments! :-)

I think it depends on the subject of the photo and I like the effect with this one. Everything good about the scene is emphasized, shapes, colors, windows, doors and the graffitti. I like it here. I'd like to try it too.

seen many hdr pictures that look like impressionist paintings. the above image might be not what we see in reality, but just as of camera lenses, there are limits of human visual accuracy too. when I look at a painting I often believe the artist has added those missing details of the scenery human eye cant see by using his imagination. I think hdr photography is about something similar. many say it is an illusion but I rather think it is more real than reality. it is about what we WANT to see and believe. just go ahead with your experiments, i personally can bear lots of enthusiasm ;-) have a great time

I know not everybody likes Hdr, I simply love it, helps me to take my imagination up to points where the camera doesn´t allow me, I'm not looking for real effects when I use it, maybe because I am not able to get them lol. Love this image!! It makes me feel the buildings are real homes.

I like HDR because it adds an extra dimension to photography. It gives the photographer an opportunity not only to capture a scene but to put a bit of creativity into it, blurring the boundary between photography and art, per se. I like this photo a lot.
