The Bridgewater Monument on the Ashridge estate, built in 1832 in memory of Francis Egerton, 3rd Duke of Bridgewater, the pioneer of the canal system in England during the industrial revolution. It overlooks the village of Aldbury and, fittingly, the Grand Union Canal.

It was built away from Ashridge House as his mother wanted "not to see or be reminded of my infernal son”.

Families eh!

Btw, yes it is HDR, the first of several this week. I'm bored and want to play!

girafferacing Great capture. I like the use of HDR here - it captures the dramatic sky but doesn't have the surreal feel that so many HDRs have.
