Friends, colleagues and a nice fat cheque for charity...

A few years ago I worked for a while with some people in Canary Wharf who became friends and have remained so since.

They know I am keen on photography and a few weeks ago one of them asked me if I would take some photos of the whole team (12 of them) for a newsletter and promotional material they intended to produce. I was happy to do so despite being rather nervous about the prospect as taking pictures of people isn't exactly my strength.... give me a nice motionless landscape any day (and this was a bunch of lawyers so who knows what I was letting myself in for!!).

Anyway I worked from their office for a few days and each day for a couple of hours around lunchtime I went off with them individually to take a mix of pictures in the office and outside.

After several evenings of sorting, selecting and editing I finally delivered half a dozen pictures of each person both in colour and black and white. (I prefer the b/w myself and the pictures I have posted here are just a small selection.)

Thankfully they were pleased with the results and, remarkably so I thought, wanted to pay me for my efforts.

However, I am not a professional photographer and would never pretend to be one but I suggested that perhaps a donation to charity would be a nice gesture.

The cogs of accounts departments turn slowly but yesterday the funds cleared in my account and today I wrote a cheque for several hundred pounds to St. Andrew's Hospice that looked after my sister in her last few weeks back in 2007.

So it was a good result - customer happy, photographer happy (that they are) and hospice happy with an early Christmas present.

No doubt they won't like me posting their mug-shots but this is by way of a thank you from me - they made it a fun exercise and at the end of the day a worthy cause is a bit better off. :-)
