Embden, Maine. Somerset County

2008.06.24
We dutifully began our trek after organizing our supplies and refueling.

Clouds scattered about the sky as we slid underneath them on the ribbon of asphalt known as 95.

The sky continued to open, further and further as we traveled.

Before we knew it, the land also transformed into verdant pasturelands and farms.

Livestock populated the vast rural expanse.

We took the ancient advice of the native peoples and knew it was about to rain by the prostrate posture of these bovine inhabitants.

The mecca of all mismatched hubcaps.

The urban center of Madison.

This cement bridge is our major navigational landmark.

There still was much farmland through which we must travel.

As far as you could care to glance, the fields expanded...

to both sides of the road.

Industry booming.

One bastion of civilization in North Anson, Pinkham's Elm Street General Store.

We soon made it into our small town, Embden

Out on the pond.

Occasionally we were showered with sunlight and it seemed that God himself was letting his glory fall from on high.

Between sky and land, we went about our daily ventures.

The sun fought epically to illuminate the lake, yet was stifled on most attempts.

The clouds added to the humid and muggy atmosphere those days.

The color set the tone of the time.
