valla de alambre de púas: It means barbed wire fence in Spanish

Good thing I was wearing my glasses, even though the wire slid right under them and flipped them off of my face.

I got tangled up like some poor WWI doughboy. I never thought about just how effective barbed wire could be as a tool of carnage. I could not have picked a more awkward angle to fall into the fence.

So this is the wort of it, I thought I had split my lip into two separate pieces. Close, I'll have to try harder next time. Although it does feel as if I could push my tongue through the puncture...

Yes, this does hurt every time I move my arm. Thanks for noticing.

As you may or may not be aware, I usually do not appear as a regular feature in my photos, except for special cases. This happens to be a very special case, as I've recently sustained some gnarly lacerations and other wonderful and interesting injuries!
It happened on Friday, September 19th, 2008, and from now on, I might just have some permanent reminders of my adventure and subsequent rapid descent into a rusty mire of sharpened rusted wire.
Me, a colleague from work, and three friends decided to go to the eco-tourism park here in Ciudad Guzman, which features a mountain with a paved path, so that you may drive instead of actually climbing the mountain. Anyways, It was after midnight, so the only source of light was the lights of the city far below us, and the occasional passing vehicle. I ventured towards the edge of the cliff we were standing to get a better view, when I lost my footing. I wasn't frightened immediately, since there was a retaining fence I could make out in the dark. What I didn't realize, was that this fence was made entirely out of rusty barbed wire. So, imagine my surprise when I became hopelessly tangled in it with the help of gravity. No it did not hurt, but it did bring about a rather hasty end to the nights festivities.
