Church, Not Charlotte...

2010.09.05

This looks like a still from a Hammer film, but is in fact the Victorian addition to Waldershare Church.
pixel
The other end of Waldershare. Bit in the middle is originally Norman, bits either side are late 17thC and early 18thC respectively. Figure is not a ghostly apparition but my friend Steve.

Barfrestone Church, again Norman. There was a good pub next door, sadly now shut, I hope only temporarily.
pixel
St Petrox Church Dartmouth, arguably has the most pictureskew setting in England.
pixel
St Leonards Church, Deal.

I have a headache, didn't sleep well and it's Sunday morning, so I'm contemplating the paradox that though I have no religious instincts at all, I love churches. Thus I seem to have quite a few pics of them. (I share this affliction with the late A J P Taylor, so I'm in good company).

revenant Sorry you're under the weather. Get well soon.

I'd like to join this august company of atheists who love churches; every time I'm in a place intended to inspire the fear of god, I'm awestruck by how and why it was built.

Beware of friends masquerading as ghostly apparitions, signed, Revenant.
