A few more from the day out taking snaps last week. A lot of them have been experiments with a new lens, it was also a very grey day with a flat even light, hence the predominance of close-ups and textural shots. Incidentally, no lobsters were harmed while taking these shots (which is a shame, as a bit of lobster salad with a nice bottle of Chablis would have gone down a treat) All shot in RAW and played with in PSE. Now want 50mm prime, but it may have to wait a bit.

Sancerre for me. Chablis doesn't have the stamina for lobster. These are very nice. I didn't think an EFS zoom would be this sharp. Nice one, Nick. If I may, a 50 mm f/1.4 prime will behave like an 80 mm f/2.2 on your camera. I would suggest a Sigma 30 mm f/1.4 and that you check it for back-focusing (a problem with Sigma Q.C.) in the store before parting with your hard-earned cash. If it's the prime you want and not the focal length, go for the Canon 50 mm 1.8 (dirt cheap, very good and a lot of fun). revenant · 2011-02-13: 16:19
