More of Wonderful Bhutan

2008.04.28
Coming across the Dochula Pass (10,168') I closed my eyes and when I opened them I saw the 108 Stupas. What a site!

There are bee hives in these rocks. Can you find them?

Being a young monk can be challenging.

These boys are strugglling and looking for help.

Help arrives in a much older stronger monk.

To enter the Monastery Harka must put on his long shawl wrap and the Bhutanese girl her shoulder wrap.

Maybe studying is easier than the manual labor but then again maybe not...

Archery is the national sport so when we came back to the car and I saw this young boy, I asked him to demonstrate his skills.

He was happy to show me. He licked the end of the rubber arrow and shot it at our car. Well, Done!

This was the balcony off my riverview room. I stayed here 2 nights. Could have stayed much longer....

I had to listen to his roar all night!

Rainforest orchids contrasted by the...

Cactus!

One afternoon Harka and I walked down to where a cable car set up takes people and supplies to the village on top of the mountain.

We were thinking about trying it out but changed our minds and watched instead.

The next morning we set out for the valley of the Black Necked Cranes.

On the way down I spied many village people sitting on a hillside with their dogs.

My curiosity got the best of me and I asked to stop and inquire.
A traveling vet and his assistants were in this village today to neuter and spayed their pets.

I am back with my Nepali friends Sanjeev, Sisrish, and their son Siddartha. They have introduced me to so many interesting Nepali people. I am grateful for having these 2 months in one of my favorite countries.
