2007.12.01
I used a soft focus filter on almost all of this shoot, and this is the only picture that I really like the effect on.

I'm not sure how much I like the fact that they are looking in two different directions, but you take what you can get, right?

This I included because I'm not sure how I should have done it right. Suggestions?

Is her hair too much of a distraction? It kind of moves this picture of him from a portrait to a cropped snap shot, doesn't it? Anyway, I just love the look he's giving me. It spells trouble!

By the time we got to the rocks, I had the lighting worked out. Except that the sun kept hitting my lense. boo!

I wanted to keep them talking because as soon as we stopped, they stiffened right up. However, I kept getting pictures like this: one person has a totally different expression than the other. Kind of funny, though.

This is my "landscape portrait." I wanted it to show a little about them. We kind of took a break, and C was looking through a plant identification book, and R was looking at a huge poster of dinosaurs. He'd just named every dinasaur on there sucessfully. Very cute!

So, this was my first portrait session. My boss and her son met me at the park, and we took pictures for 2 hours. This is, sadly, 5% of the pictures we took, and these are the only ones I half-way like. I'm hoping things will get better with practice. Any advice, or should-haves are greatly appreciated! Constructive criticsm is a great tool for growth!
Thank you!

No suggestions from ME.... I think portraits are HARD to get right!
