~~~ICE SPEARS~~~
Most of you have seen me post our placid little pond behind our house. It's usually a mirror, because it's so calm. But last night and all day today, the temperatures dropped to the teens and the winds howled around the house and across the water. It actually caused "white caps" on the pond - and where it "sloshed" the water out onto the bank, it froze! (And so did I, trying to take these shots!)
????? Very cool ice formations Brenda. We're having some howling and sloshing over here too!
JustGarden Brrrrrrrr!!! Nice shots Brenda. Thanks for braving the elements. Especially like the last picture. We're getting our first major snowstorm today. Nine plus inches and still falling.
lgnelson It'll be interesting to see the follow-up shot in the morning after it gets down to 5 degrees (F) tonight with wind chill factors below 0 degrees!
Nice find!
Jothindra They indeed look like frozen spears. Better be careful when you go near them, Brenda!
ArtBee Welcome to my world Brenda...... around here right now you could form icicles from your nose. "Flash Freeze" just like your pond. These are such great shots your flash frozen pond waves! So unique how they form ice art like that.
ArtBee · 2010-12-13: 15:52
