A Very Special Day for Mom!

Mother, John Williams and (no relation) Kit Williams, who played with my brother's pee-wee baseball team that my dad coached. Kit is now the City Attorney for Fayetteville.

Mother with one of her former renters/student managers Rudy Moore, who is a local judge. The Club's scholarship fund is named for his late son, Matthew.

Fayetteville High School senior Macy Mains and Kathryn. Macy was one of the two winners of the Matthew Moore scholarship, which will be applied to her freshman year at Princeton University this fall. Macy and her mom ate lunch with me and my mom!

Today, Larry and I (who are both Rotarians) had the honor of presenting my 87-year old mother, Kathryn Dill, as a Rotary "Paul Harris Fellow". The PHF donation in her name is used in Rotary's world-wide efforts to eradicate polio, provide clean water wells, perform eye and heart surgeries, and ensure mother-infant care, plus other projects.

In all of her life, Mother has never been recognized or awarded for any of the service she had done through her church and community. Today, the Rotary District Governor-Elect John Williams presented Mom's pin in front of the Rotarians of Fayetteville, AR, which included 2 former college students who had rented apartments from my parents - and a man who had played baseball for my dad's pee-wee team!

The first thing she asked Larry when we sat down was, "How many children will that money immunize against polio?" When Larry told her 2000 children, she got tears in her eyes! It was a very special day for her - and for us!

What a wonderful way to honour your Mum's work - fantastic :-)

Wow....special is RIGHT!!!! So glad your dear mother got some recognition for the selfless service she has provided! You've caught some great shots that show the love and character in her face....you go, Brenda's mother!!!

Wonderful time for you all..glad you helped her get the recognition she deserves..(though I'm sure she never complained)..we do our service to others not for the recognition...She's a nice looking lady too :-)
