The sculpture of "Chief Logan" was donated by area artist Jo Frohanpfel. Chief Logan is a 7 ton, 20 foot long red oak log that fell during a severe storm in neighboring Fairlawn, OH.
Joe is a friend and pupil of renowned artist Peter Toth (sculpture of Rotaynah on West Market St. in Akron). Currently there are 6 Frohanpfel sculptures in the communities surrounding Bath Township. The real Chief Logan was a chief of the Mingo Indians. At some point throughout the late 1700s his Mingo village was located in the area of current day Bath Township. |
