July 17, 2010
Fueled by a great breakfast made by our gracious hostess, Sharon, we headed down to Chicago's Loop where we checked out the 30-foot "EYE" sculpture (opened July 6th), walked past the Art Institute of Chicago, enjoyed features of Millennium Park (especially Crown Fountain and Cloud Gate), walked up Michigan Avenue where we had to detour around the filming of Transformers 3, did some shopping on the Magnificent Mile, and ate a wonderful dinner at Weber Grill.
After Weber Grill, we headed north to the Sheffield Garden Walk to see one of our favorite bands, Cowboy Mouth. (Pictures of Cowboy Mouth will appear on a future day.)
This was my first real foray with my new D-SLR. The 90-degree weather didn't help make carrying a camera bag any easier, but I think I got some great shots. I am really happy with the shots from the concert where I would have had no photos to speak of with my old G9.

There sure is some strange artwork going on in Chicago these days! Great shots of the bean. Good work on the self-portrait too! And yes, your portrait skills are improving (and I'm thinking your subject a bit more tolerant as well?)
