Why do churches need such evil looking things to protect them? Can an evil thing protect something good from something evil? I thought we read that "perfect love casteth out fear," not terror casts out fear. Methinks the Christian message gets a bit tangled up in ancient ritualism and blanketed by superstition from time to time...
