eArt之奥地利Ars Electronica特别展

Noise and Voice
Noise and Voice is an interactive audiovisual installation, by Golan Levin, Zachary Lieberman and the Ars Electronica Futurelab. The New York media artists have created software in collaboration with the Ars Electronica Futurelab that depicts sounds and voices in virtual space. Its central theme is the magical relationship of speech to the ethereal medium which converys it. The graphics representing these utterances assume a wide variety of shapes and behaviors that are tightly couled to the unique qualities of the vocalist's volume, pitch and timbre. Everything that the installation's microphones pick up is interpreted by the system and translated into corresponding dynamic forms that subsequently populate the environment as virtual creatures. And this is how the previously empty space is transformed into a world full of formal variety, a domain of computer graphics whose diversity and dynamics suggest the speciesrichness of the oceans. The windows offering glimpses into this hidden world are rear projection display units and a series of large-scale projections.

GARDEN garden is an interactive installation where the audiences sprinkle "KAMI-FUBUKI" and bring the garden to full bloom with "KAMI-FUBUKI". KAMI-FUBUKI is made of white Japanese paper "WASHI". when the audience sprinkle small pieces of paper up into the air under the light of the projector, the pieces will be "dyed" in colors of various shades, and wavy outlines formed by KAMI-FUBUKI on the groud create the illusion of 3D images of real flowers. GARDEN is a place for communication. The artist hopes that the audience will cooperate among themselves in order to bring the garden into full bloom and that this work will be a place where people will feel kindness to each other and share happiness with others. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------MEMECRY memecry is an electronic installation, which recreates images of its viewers from a palette of corporate logos. Aaron Koblin's works have primarily been focused on processing and interpreting large sets of data related to humanity and culture. From airplanes over North America to hand made drawings of sheep, he crafts new perspectives on the structures and systems that affect our lives. www.AaronKoblin.com

I'm jumping with my yellow bag behind the little boy --------------------------------------------------------
JUMP! Jump! is an interactive installation that allows the visitor to play with his own image. There are some few rules to the game when the first is "Jump to be recorded". After he enters the room, he'll first see a life size crowd of people jumping all togethere at the same time projected in front of him and see the mirror image of him in the foreground. From then on, he can start rebuilding, redrawing what he sees and will let to the others; when jumping, he can feel totally free to do what he wants, and progressively replace the jumps of former visitors by his. This work offers a visual space of creation to the visitor where the becomes the compulsive brush of the animated screen. It offers an alternative to the passive way of watching today (TV for example).Jump out of your sofas, it's time to get IN the screen!

White Lives on Speaker
The theme of this work is sculpture made through sound. THe method of this work is a white liquid jumping on a speaker. This liquid is potato starch dissolved in water. A dilatancy phenomenon is observable when mixing the potato starch in equal amounts of water. When simulated, the dissolved starch becomes solid, yet returns to liquid when the simulation is stopped. It is this phenomenon that we use in the work. A lot of shapes cna be observed via simulation of the starch. In some ways, the work is influenced by the idea of brainwave modulated in Tarkovsky's SOLARS.
