Camping tryout

2008.05.28
We were supposed to attend Farhan’s play at his school but it was postponed for a day. Me and D got a brilliant idea to have BBQ picnic at Gallup Park. We zoomed straight to Gallup Park when the kids reached home from school, of course after they had their lunch.

D got even a better idea to try out assembling the tent there as well. Yeah… we plan to go camping during summer since Michigan has quite a lot of campsites. Btw, Gallup park only allows day time camping until 10pm.

They were inserting the main rods.

Adjusting the rods.

Farhan helped out his Daddy because it would be easier to setup the tent with two pairs of hands.

I was busy preparing the picnic table.

Earlier on at home, I have prepared the side dishes to go along with BBQ chicken. The pasta salad and…

… coleslaw. No potatoes today!

Hey look! The tent was already up! The two boys were so fast.

D even brought sleeping bags. I guess he planned to take a nap afterwards.

The last piece was putting up the tent cover and its awning. The tent is big enough for four of us with space to spare. Awesome! ... especially coming from that small bag.

We were lucky to have Sarah taking pictures, if not we would always forget to capture the moments.

Sarah went in to check out its interior. Hmm… got pockets for personal belongings at both sides of the tent. Nice!

“It's quite comfy in here!”

Our BBQ expert is getting ready to burn…

… the charcoal.

Farhan was eager with his fishing rod. Hmm… now that’s his latest craze!

Isn’t it a serene place to be?

Wahh… our angler got fish only after few minutes he threw the bait in the river. Cool!

I was already hungry when D was still basting the drumsticks.

D loves the tent so much!

Yeay, eating time!

Back to fishing!

Watching the kids thru the net of the tent’s door.

I was contented to watch the brother and sister having fun fishing. They didn't fight at all... so peaceful seeing them helping one another. Sarah sacrificed her new pants to walk in the river to catch Farhan's bobber that flew off the rod.

When we reached home, the kids were excited to measure the length of the fish that Farhan caught. Ohh… he managed to catch five 6”-7” fish. I would say it was a success for a beginner young angler. Heh.

All the same types of bass except for one green sunfish. Well… that’s our best guess after googling the types of fish here and there.

Ready to be scaled and cleaned. I later marinated them with salt and turmeric powder.

Here they are... I fried them all.. yum! Hey, Farhan brought food to the table ;-)

p/s: Wishing a very happy birthday to Azan (25th) and Kak Lin (28th). We called both of them earlier on. Happy to hear they both had a great time on their birthday.

K Nun Just like Nik Ai to take a nap where ever he goes! LOL! *wink*

That sure looks like yummy pasta and coleslaw. Can't imagine you preparing all those lovely food when you were here in Malaysia! LOL! *wink* I've got competition now! *grin*

I am sure Aiman would enjoy a camping day out too, but, *sigh*, life in KL is always so busy!

BTW, Eli, Aiman told us the day b4 the school holidays started that he had planned for a holiday to the US THIS holiday. Hmm......he must think that US must be so near! *grin*

hugs,

elinordin yeah corelle is cheap here but the only problem is its weight esp now they're very strict abt extra luggage or more than 50lb/23kg per bag for the domestic flight. My bro recently had to pay more than $100 :-(
