Goodbye spring...

2009.06.20
Today is the last official day of spring as tomorrow will be the summer solstice which will be the longest day and the shortest night of the year in the Northern Hemisphere.

Let's welcome summer and not to forget the beautiful spring which we've been through.

I was browsing through the pictures in my iPhoto and realized that Ma took lots of pictures of spring beauties around this neighborhood during her stay here.

So Ma, I hope you don't mind me uploading some of these beautiful pictures from your collection...

As usual, tulips, the early bloomers, would surprise me with their appearance like this one in front of our house.

These gorgeous tulips also...

... made their appearance at my backyard.

Out of a sudden, these lovely Forsythia flowers were everywhere around our neighborhood. I just love spring surprises...

... and got excited even to see the wildflowers.

Another species of wild flowers.

I was not sure where Ma took this one as she loved walking around the neighborhood with her camera :)

I guess she was so fascinated to see all these weeds popping out from the ground after the cold winter.

Ma was indeed very lucky to experience winter, spring and summer during her two month stay with us.

At one point you would see lots and lots of these yellow weeds called Dandelions.

There are pretty but...

... when they matured to this spherical white which kids loved to blow them apart, ...

... I just could not stand too many white stuff flying in the air.

Spring was really in the air when I saw the trees budding.

I still felt how miracle it was to see the buds coming out from these 'dead looking' trees during winter.

Young pine cones!

Red crab apple blossoms would appear after the cherry blossoms were gone.

This one was captured either by Sarah or D.

Pretty!

This tree was full of snow in early april and full or flowers by end of April. Amazing!

Please click to see Ma's winter picture with this tree - picture no 1.

Ma was so excited to see this plant popping out from the ground at our backyard. I was shocked too... yeah I remember last spring I planted this plant which I bought from Meijer. Please click to see my last year's entry - picture no 12.

Guess what... that plant has grown this big and the flowers are blooming - I just took this picture just now!!

Ma, I think you know which plant I was talking about, the one which is the nearest to the sliding door. It's very pretty at the moment. How I wish you were here to see it blooming!
