Last boating along Huron river

2009.06.23
We just needed to bid adieu to Gallup park and Huron river before we leave Ann Arbor.

One double canoe for the boys and one double kayak for the girls.

The boys' canoe was ready while...

... we went to get our life jacket.

I was not that comfortable with the life jacket which I picked earlier on.

I went to change with a better one :)

We went to the other side to get our as kayak which were located at the lower deck.

Gimme the camera please...

D wanted to take picture of us with the bridge in the background.

Farhan preferred canoe because he wanted extra space for fishing gears. Canoe is more suitable.

I'd rather kayak for easy maneuvering and I could paddle both sides easily.

We then took over the camera.

Farhan just could not wait to fish.

It was so hard for us to go against the current as we chose to go up river. Hence, no pictures as we were struggling with our paddles and water splashed everywhere. We were soaked wet. Heheh!

Sarah only took the camera out from the bag when we managed to park our kayak by the river bank by holding to a tree branch.

D and Farhan parked their canoe on the other side.

While resting, we saw all these tree logs and branches passing by. Huh?

Quite a lot of old trees drifted down from the up river, eh?

Dragonfly :)

We paddled close to the other side to meet the boys.

Holding to their canoe.

Going back down the river was easy.

Ohh.. I forgot to mention that D managed to catch small rock bass earlier on.

We just let the current brought us back while relaxing on our kayak eating tortilla chips.

On our way back, we detoured a bit to the lily pads area as the boys wanted to try their luck to catch big fish there.

Unfortunately, they did not score any big ones today... well, what mattered most was they had fun :).

By this time, we were shivering in wet pants. No wonder, the Americans wore bikinis on kayak. Heh!

Nevertheless, it was a nice day and we did not go back straight home.

We went to grab burgers from AhMo's and had a lil picnic at Lillie Park.
