Packing-up our house
2009.06.28
[Check out the pictures next month! They're not on my traveling Macbook]
We have been extremely busy packing up our house as the contract will end on June 30th. The plan is to move all our stuff to storage in Ann Arbpr for one month since our house contract in NJ will only start in August. During our one month of address-less, we will be traveling all the way to Northwest... Seattle :). We will be coming back to Ann Arbor to pick up our belongings from the storage and move to NJ. That's the plan!
We've been making a few trips to storage already to move our boxes. But today is the big day! Heh! Some good friends volunteered to help us to move the big and heavy furniture, so D rented a big truck to make one big trip to the storage. I managed to marinade some chickens to be BBQed and potato salad to go along with it. They would surely be hungry to carry all those big items for the two houses. Ohh... Ayu was busy moving out her stuff to the storage too. She was so kind to organize the boys to help us out as well. Million thanks, Ayu!
While waiting for the moving crew settling Ayu's house, D managed to BBQ all the chicken. We slept at 5am this morning to pack our furniture and stuff. I knew it already, this packing business would not going to end no matter how early I started. It took me three months to properly pack our house in Bangi last time. Hee...
When Faris and family came, the boys were still busy ferrying Ayu's boxes to the storage. So, we let them officiate the BBQ. Since Faris offered to load the boxes to the truck, we let him officiate our truck together with his kids. They were so helpful :)
By 3pm the boys came to our house... exhausted! So, we decided to enjoy the food first to fully recharge their energy. Hah!
Ohh... Ayu brought her fried rice and special lamb from Jerusalem to be BBQed as well. Yeay! Kak Deng dropped by earlier on, in between helping Ayu packing up her house, to prepare corns that she brought, to be grilled. Yum!
Loading our boxes and furniture into the truck was fast but unloading from the truck into the storage was tricky. Hah! With just 10 by 10 storage which re rented, Bulan had to do his magic to arrange our boxes and furniture in order to fit everything in. I wonder where he got the skill from. He said from playing Tetris. Hehe.. on a serious note, he had so much experience loading stuff to the storage and helping out others as well. Good job! If not, we might need to rent extra space. So, kudos to Bulan and million thanks to Adzni, Naim and Attong as well for your great help.
Kak Deng had been adamant to offer her help every time she met me. I was just so shy to ask help from people. It was not an easy task to beg help from people. She had been calling and leaving messages to both Ayu and I that she would definitely come and help. Ohh... you are so kind Kak Deng! Same goes to Aisyah. She volunteered and also came to help. Again, thanks everyone! We really appreciate it very much.
