Eid celebration @ West Haven

2009.10.10
We thought we would be on time to leave the house at 11am as the journey to West Haven, Connecticut would only take two hours. The Eid event was scheduled from 1pm until 6pm. As we were approaching George Washington Bridge, the traffic jam was really bad.

We hoped that the traffic is bad only on the bridge.

Unfortunately, it continued on till we have long passed the bridge. I guess there were just too many people heading out from NYC during weekend. Perhaps, some people were heading for weekend getaway, just like us, since Monday is Columbus Day which is observed by our kids' school.

Hmm... the traffic was still bad as we entered Connecticut.

As we approached near the exit, there was an accident and there we were stuck again in about 3-mile traffic jam.

It took us almost four hours to reach here, where the event was held.

We heard about the close-knit Malaysian community who have pretty much settled down in this town.

The event has long started when we arrived.

We just went straight to the buffet table the moment we entered the hall. Heh! ... filling up our tummy before we started meeting people.

Alhamdulillah that we arrived when the event was still on. Hah!

We were entertained by the kids who performed all sort of joget and dances.

My boys :)

I was so engrossed listening to Kak Shima's stories about her kids.

Emcees. I was told she was the actress in 'Adik Manja'.

One of the kids' performances.

What a lovely surprise to meet Elga there :)

Meeting Bulan's friend, Nina :). I wish I had more time with her.

Nina's hubby, Amri who is also my ex-colleague's brother. Yeah, the world is getting smaller.

Hope we'll meet again!

For the family album with Malaysian Ambassador to US, DSJJ :)

On our way back to the car, we got to know another Malaysian in CT, Laini.

Abe could not make it to the event, so we met him during dinner at this Turkish restaurant.

Kids were excited meeting Uncle Li :)

The lamb chop and chicken chop were yummeh!

This chicken was edible but I won't order it next time for sure..

Lamb.

It was nice catching up with Abe since the last time we met.

Ohh... Abe treated us and million thanks :)

Lots of leftover for breakfast tomorrow, the turkish bread was good!

We traveled to Vermont and Maine the next day to enjoy fall colors and lobstah!!

To be continued...
