Mountain fall foliage

2009.10.11
Since we were already in Connecticut for the Eid Event, we might as well travel up north to Vermont to enjoy the fall colors. The colors would go away fast if we were to postpone this trip! Luckily, kids were on leave on Monday for the Columbus day. So here we were, enjoying our three-day-weekend getaway...

We passed by few beautiful lakes...

... with gorgeous fall foliage in the background. How peaceful to live in those cottages huh? ... but nooo.. it must be a loooong winter in this area!

As we progressed up north via VT100, we noticed lesser and lesser greens, more and more pretty colors :)

Some people might say that we've seen enough fall colors! But this trip was different than what we've seen before, we wanted to enjoy...

... the beauty of the mountains covered with those vibrant colors!

We could not resist to make a stop here for few pictures.

Wow!

We almost reached our destination after four hour drive from West Haven CT.

Putting on layers of clothing to survive the weather here :P

We were queuing up for...

... K-1 Gondola ride to the top of Killington Peak, a ski resort in Vermont.

Thanks to D who found out about this amazing way of experiencing fall foliage on a gondola ride.

View from our gondola!

Wow... I haven't seen this much of foliage across the mountain range before! Amazing!

Pictures do not do justice for the colors, hence you gotto be here!!

It was worthwhile to drive up here.

Pity the kids and D as they had their assignments to complete at the back of their mind!

We just had to make this trip or else the beautiful colors won't wait for us.

The boys followed the trail to hike to the top while Sarah and I were queuing up for lunch at the restaurant. As you could see, there were spots of snow and it was slippery! Luckily I did not follow them since I did not wear my boots.

But of course, the view up there was worth the hike :P

Awesome!

Some of the trees were covered with fresh snow that feel earlier in the day.

Snow covered pine trees with fall foliage in the background.

Farhan had to wear D's gloves, it seemed only D came prepared for the coldness. Heheh!

Unfortunately, when the boys came to the restaurant, Sarah and I were so frustrated waiting and waiting for about an hour for our veggie burger! It was so ridiculous and we only received our order after I went to the cashier asking for refund!! Were we the only ones asking for veggie burger?!

Taking the ride back to our car. Hot cocoa in this cold weather was so heavenly!

Sarah, as always, could not stop snapping pictures.

But it was time to go and we were rather late to continue our journey to our next destination.

Heading to Portland, Maine for the other purpose of this trip. It's lobstah!!

To be continued...
