Dear friends,

Today is 8 April 2008 and I have something to say…

I want to say that I am so proud of Peng Che and I am so proud to be her friend. I really admire her fighting spirit and I have to admit that she has changed my life a lot.

Because of her, I have learned how to love and live a better life.

Because of her, I have learned not to take the extras but give while I still can.

Because of her, I have learned that sometimes all a person needs is a hand to hold and a heart to understand.

Because of her, I have learned that the Lord didn't do it all in one day and what makes me think that I can?

Because of her, I have learned that if I pursue happiness, it will elude me. But, if I focus on my family, my friends, the needs of others, my work, and doing the very best I can, happiness will find me.

Because of her, I am a stronger person.

I want to thank the Lord for watching over Peng Che, for HIS guidance during the process of helping her and HIS blessing on our friendship.

Dear friends, I want to thank all of you once again for your love and care for Peng Che. Some of you have asked me how Peng Che is doing now. Let me copy the latest updates from her blog and paste them here.

Penny has her 7th bag of blood transfusion in the evening.

A few notes from Penny:
Penny thanks everyone who left her a message. She apologizes for not able to reply your message individually but she had heard all your messages from Emmeline and her colleagues. Penny is hoping to visit this site once she is feeling better.

Penny needs your prayer to stop her internal bleeding without going through the laser surgery process. The process will fix her intestine bleeding issue but it will affect the patient's kidneys. She stated that she is not giving up and she will continue fighting for her life.

Penny thanks everyone for your encouragement, motivation and prayer to keep her strong for a speedy recovery.

A good news to share is my sister Penny's kidneys are doing better. She will be discharged from the hospital by the end of this week. It is possible to remove a tube from her right kidney before she is going home. Penny is removed from IV and started to eat solid food in a slow pace. Not sure if Penny is advised to continue the laser surgery to fix her small intestine bleeding issue. Anyway, she has to go back to hospital for a weekly exam. Penny has another bag of blood transfusion at night.

I am so thrilled to hear my sister Penny's voice today as she couldn’t be on the phone for at least a couple weeks. Thank you so much for everyone’s support to keep her strong.

Some of you have asked me why there isn't any new updates for my sister Penny. Since there isn't any significant progress being made, I try not to alarm everyone. I am guessing she will still be staying in the hospital for the next few days. A few notes passed by Emmeline from my sister Penny.

* Penny's kidneys are now attached to a tube separately. Doctor needs to keep them monitoring until she is allowed to go home.

* Penny needs to make a decision if she should fix the internal bleeding as the procedure will affect her kidneys. There is no information on how bad the kidneys will be affected. She doesn't need to stay at the hospital but she will be required to report to hospital on daily basis for 5 minutes laser procedures to fix the internal bleeding. The whole process will take 2 weeks.

* Penny is now 37kg and she is afraid that she will continue to lose weight as she still can't really eat but drink only.

Penny moved to Block 4, ward 48, room 4 at SGH.


Apr 2
A tube is connected to my sister's left kidney today. The doctors mentioned that if Penny's kidneys are performing well with the dialysis and after they fix her small intestine bleeding issue, they would let her go home. She will need to come back to the hospital for frequent checkup.


Apr 1
My mom described my sister Penny underwent a procedure to direct tubes from left and right kidney to the bladder. Four tumors at her abdominal area have become barriers that the procedure was not performed successfully. Penny wept over her health conditions. The doctors indicated that they will try to do the procedure again.


Mar 31
Penny has another bag of blood transfusion. She is expected to tie another tube to her left kidney tomorrow.


Mar 28
A previous dialysis is done on Penny's right kidney. The doctor advised her that her left kidney needs to do the same procedure in order to remove wastes and extra fluids in her body.


Mar 27
Penny is asked to do another medical scan today in order to find the right solution to fix her small intestine bleeding issue.


Mar 26
Penny is weaker today than a couple days ago after the whole-day medical scans. A prescribed medicine has caused her constant vomiting on Mar 25 evening and also this morning.


Mar 25
My mom met with Prof Soo and found out that the cause of my sister Penny's constant blood insufficiency is from small intestine bleeding. No surgery is recommended at this point as Penny's body is quite weak. Medicine is prescribed to control the internal bleeding situation. She had another bag of blood transfusion on Mar 24th night. I know she must be as devastated as all of us. Thanks everyone who keeps thinking and praying for her.

My sister Penny was under medical scans almost all day today. It is unsure what has caused the constant blood loss/insufficiency. Penny joked that she has become an vampire who needs constant blood transfusion. I am so proud that my sister Penny is still able to look at the bright side during her toughest time. This is one of the reasons why so many people are loving her. Hope all is well.

If Penny's kidneys are continue doing well with the dialysis, the doctors indicate she might be able to discharge soon. I will keep everyone informed, thanks for so many support.

My mom heard from Prof Soo that Penny's kidney is doing better today.


Mar 21
Penny is able to consume some porridge made by our mom. Prof Soo indicates Penny's kidney is still very weak with the dialysis. Penny had slight fever on that day, might be caused by blood transfusion.


Mar 20
My sister Penny had another bag of blood transfusion. She is advised walking with the physical therapist assistance. Sincerely thank those doctors, nurses, volunteers and blood donors who really care for patients and provided good care for Penny.
