Today I went to 2 baseball games, an indoor soccer game and a lacrosse game. It was quite the sporting day!
I learned that indoor soccer is VERY challenging, I ended up using my 50mm 1.4 lens for most of the outing just because the light was so terrible. The lighting was spotty, different everywhere, and there was definitely not enough of it. Out of 429 photos, I only kept 66 - a terrible ratio! I did learn quite a bit though and will be better prepared for next time.
The outside shooting was fun, but a bit less rain would have been helpful. It's not easy to shoot with an umbrella tucked in the strap of your camera bag.
This series was from the Highline baseball game today, there were 2 men on base, and the batter hit a shot to the outfield. As they were both running home, one guy almost caught up to the other guy. They were basically both sliding at the same time! The kid that was in the front wanted to pay me to delete the shots, he was slightly embarrassed that he almost got caught by the runner behind him. Instead, I think I will put him on Photoblog!
1.4????.....Im turning "hulk" green again but this time from envy! I had the same problem with the basketball game a while back and didn't have anywhere near as fast a lens as you! It really is a challenge but as you said, its a great way to learn an awful lot. Will you be posting any shots from it?
Cute story about the kid almost getting caught out....lol..theres a novel way to make a bit of cash! bribe people....hehe
Youve got some very cool action shots here. The last 3 in particular tell the story very nicely indeed!
