This afternoon I stopped by a little pond and found a mother duck with her 3 ducklings. Sadly, an eagle found them too, and now the mother duck only has 2 ducklings. It was quite a sight to see this eagle swooping down on the little ducks.

I can't decide if I am sad for the mama duck or happy for the eagle. I think I am sad for the duck, because during the 30 minutes I was there, she never stopped quacking her sad little quack saying "where are you" to her missing little duckling.

I guess thats the way things work in nature!

Yes, that is the rules of the food chain and of nature... it's still sad though.. the response of the mother duck would have upset me greatly if I had witnessed that. Magnificent shots. Eagles really are amazing animals. :) Peche · 2008-05-08: 06:16
