A UNESCO world heritage site, Hampi is located within the ruins the Vijayanagara empire. Its called The City of Ruins, and is accessible via Hospet, the gateway for Hampi. A truly religious site where stones are intricately carved and majestic ruins that leave you lost in the wonders and mystic of the once great empire.
Its a Hindu sacred ground, attacked and conquered by the Muslims in 14th century. The destruction of it by the Muslim, Moghl invadors was sudden, and reduced the once majestic city into ruins amidst the savage massacre of its people. Its a muted world brimming with colourful stories and beautiful pictures from the past.
