Munar

2007.08.29
Nigel was interrupting my research!

Despite the very weak bridge, there were still cars and autos driving on it.. We didn't even dare cross the bridge cos we were so afraid the bridge will fall...

We wondered around the plantations although looking back, we were most probably trespassing.. the locals didn't seem to mind though... they offered us the raincoats off their backs cos we were drenched from the pouring rain..

looks like wonderland! like a picture off a fantasy novel isn't it?

this was the scenery that accompanied us on our down from Munar back to Kochi...

the young tea leaves amidst the vast tea plantation...

It doesn't look like the India I've come to recognise... it looks like a picture taken in Europe..

This is the source of the waterfall... the water was icy cold and i was rather glad that i had my Teva sandals on...

Lonely recommended restaurant - Frys

Munar was a strange experience for me.. We took a local bus up from Kochin and fell asleep halfway thru the journey up... We were awaken by the sudden drop in temperature and I woke up to find myself in another dreamland... The mist surrounded the bus and visibility was low... We could see spots of green every now and then but the hazy view made my sleepy mind more confused as to if I were awake or still asleep... The sound of waterfalls rang in my ears and till now, i still wonder if that was just a fraction of my imagination...

Munar was rainy and visibility was really low.. it was pretty frustrating to wait for the mist to clear, just in time for us to snap a few pictures here and there... but the weather was nice and it was strangely therapeutic to walk down the tea plantations and enjoy the ever cool breeze...
