I will at this time, seeing this moon shot, lay tribute to Wally Schirra (astronaut), who passed way last Thursday. He never got to the moon, but his Apollo 7 mission in October 1968 paved the way for the subsequent moon missions. This is the moon they were trying to conquer - such a beautiful and appropriate shot!!

The cycles of the moon are interesting, in my gallery I have a similar photo but it is from Mexico and in October where the change in the position of craters is very evident.
