If you mean image editor, there are some free software. I use the Gimp, and it's free.. if you mean Photoshop with all of its version.. for me, all are expensive. There are a lot of free image editors out there, why I need to buy one? beside I only know little bit about post processing.

As said there are a few free programs out there you can DL.
But if your willing to spend a bit of cash Photoshop Elements is a good choice, it's a cut down version of fully-blown Photoshop but a fraction of the price.

Photoshop CS2. If you're a student, I'm sure they have educational price plans for such cases. If you're really into it go get it. It's fun and it is a really powerful image editor. But please dun cut any limbs for it. Try out the TRIAL version. 30 days.
There's plenty of tutorial sites for photoshop too.
Again, think of it as a long term investment if you are really utilising the tool.

I'm mad about the Gimp. It's free, and you can add on whatever you'd like, plus it works like photoshop. I love it!

There will soon be an on-line version of photoshop which will have less features, surely will work for your needs. However, learning all of CS is worth it, really
