Hi people! I can get one of two cameras in the same price - canon 5d mark ii and canon 1d mark iii. What should I go for? I am studying photography and intend to go pro in not too distant future ;] I am not into studio photography rather journalism, outside shots etc. What do you recommend?
Tahnks!

Do you mean the 1D Mk III with the 10 mp APS-H sensor? If so, as a 5DII owner, I'd go for the new model (mine) because of the more recent features. Advantages: amazing low-light performance and full-frame sensor. Downsides: slow burst rate of 3.5 fps (not ideal for quick photo-journalism) and 98% viewfinder coverage.
The 1DIII had serious AF problems and was quickly superseded by the 1DIV and the 1DsIII. Unless you're really going to work exclusively on sports photography, I would still go for the 5DII (faster and better Digic processor). If speed is really an issue, the 7D is a viable - and cheaper - alternative.
As an all-round performer in IQ terms, the 5DII is probably the best Canon body out there - for now.
Please note: the 1Dxxx and the 5D (old and new bodies) all suffer from the same, very irritating, but minor flaw: dust can enter the pentaprism chamber, which cannot be removed except by having a Canon technician take the whole body apart. It doesn't show on the sensor, only in the viewfinder.

Thank you very much. That just confirms what other people told me. I guess 5d ii is the body I should go for...
Thank you once again.
