Today we're introducing social sharing buttons that can help you gain traffic by making it easy for your visitors to share your posts on Twitter, Google+, and Facebook.
The buttons are enabled by default on all photoblogs, and can be found under the title of each post. If you would like to turn the buttons off, you can easily do so by visiting your blog settings page.

Quick user feedback:
In Firefox 7.0.1 mac, the FB sign-in window appears and disappears in a continuous loop. In Chrome (mac), you can sign in. I "liked" one of my own posts (sorry) and found my "like" on my wall with the avatar of one of my friends here, not the post.
Before I forget, the French for "dashboard" is "tableau de bord", for when you come to update the other language interfaces.

Thanks for this improvement. I've been doing this manually for some time so it'll be good to have an automated way to do it. Will try it later today with IE9.

I have the same experience on Safari (mac) Facebook
It shows some one else's flower but I like that you can share your blog that easy

i very much like the fact that i can turn these buttons off... and furthermore, still have the option to display my pictures in small (500px) size. thanks for leaving me these options, after some consideration and i tend to not use both.
reason for 1: i stubbornly believe in the disconnection of photoblog from these mega sites of social networks; in a way to have photoblog kept clean of the, and i'm ducking down under the critics here, shit storm and riff raff these other social networks provide and contain. besides, the "like" button of facebook and g+ are questionable, if anything, in terms of data collecting and sharing.
reason for 2: i rather find the zoom-by-click function we had previously an advantage over a fixed, already open bigger size of pictures; this mainly because the bigger pictures naturally promote the visual aspects of photoblog (i.e. the "photo" part of it) - while pushing down and often out of sight whatever text there is to them (unless you choose to have the text ABOVE, which never made any sense to me).
i always liked photoblog for providing me tools to "show AND tell" - please don't overrate the showing part too much.

How do you SHARE, not LIKE,a specific Photoblog page on Facebook? I want to be able to click a button in Photoblog and have it post a status update in Facebook that displays a link to a newly created photoblog page. All Clicking LIKE in Photoblog does is post an entry on my Facebook page stating I like my own pictures and I then must SHARE it for it to post as a status update for my friends to see it.

I had the same problem as Stéfan and Marjory though it worked fine the first time (when I liked my own post). Curiously it has posted the avatar of a friend (for 30 years) of the person whose blog I liked. I'm on firefox. will try Safari when I get home...

Oh.. just had another go at liking my own post and I got someone else's avatar. Actually the first time I did it I got a thumbnail from my blog not my Avatar. Mysterious workings of the interwebs. Makes me realise how little I know

I've just tried this with my latest post and it doesn't do what I thought it was going to. I was under the impression it would share the link to my post on my Facebook wall but apparently it doesn't do anything of the sort in IE9. Am I doing something wrong here? I guess I'll have to continue manually copying and pasting my links to FB for now...
PS Is there any chance the ability to re-order photos in a post can be re-enabled? It hasn't worked since I upgraded to IE9 which means I have to add each photo singley rather than add them en-mass and reordering afterwards.

@phillee58: That would be a future feature in which you can hook up your PB account to various social network accounts to have new posts be broadcast in the way you're describing

Weird. But am I the only one that has a problem with having visitors to my blog "share" MY images on other social media?
I've turned mine off until I investigate this further.

@jlmphotos:
It very much depends on how you choose to use Photoblog. If it's more personal, then you'll probably want to turn it off. If you're a photographer looking to share your work with a wider audience, then it's a good thing for you to make sharing it easy

I'm with jlmphotos and JFLRPN, I don't want strangers (even other PBers) "sharing" photos elsewhere and I think the default setting should be off.
Many PBers don't visit everyday, or won't know about this change, and may not want their photos shared via other social media without them having given express permission ahead of time.

MIchael. Just a suggestion. If we're trying to make the site more about the photo. Then, let's put the social tags at the end. Having these icons directly bordering the very first (and frequently only) image in a post is an assault on the eyeball. The colours of those icons are fixed and clash with almost every image and blog setting I've seen.
At the moment, I feel it's actually spoiling the "viewing experience" when visiting blogs.

Michael, I have used the FB button now twice to share photo´s of PB friends on FB. What happened is that the link appeared at Facebook but if you follow it it shows the related PB page but without picture. I am using MacOs 10.7

Best wishes at first @Michael, Mike and friends.
Great! Thanks for doing this. It was necessary!
I wanna suggest U someting too dear and gentle Michael: I think It was easy to pass from a member´s Photoblog to the "Browse" Area -options- ("Latest" "Popular" "Ramdom" "Friends" or "Tags") doing a click on these categories but the links are not there due the new design now. That was a very important subject for gain time when someone wanna appreciate the other´s works, specially when metod is to visit too many Photoblogs like I do for example. I just think the experience of view and comment through these categories is part of the Photoblog concept and to pass from a member´s Photoblog to these "Browse" categories easily, increases the internal traffic and metadata flows, wich is a good thing. Equally, those "Browse" categories are not there for no members whose must be "in" through "Take a look around".link on text. Hope the best for all. Thank U!
♥ Photoblog.com!
PS: Love the way how "Archives" option displays! Pretty cool!

Can we PLEASE reposition at least the social networking buttons. They are destroying the framing of images and sets.
One could view it that, paid accounts have paid to have advertising removed from their PB experience. These buttons are not just a mechanism for sharing - they are a form of advertising.
I'm sure even those that are happy to have the buttons available would agree that framing their sets with these buttons on the very first row is not ideal.
So, if we are unwilling to compromise and reposition them, can we please ensure that paid accounts have the ability to remove them from view on their own blog and remove them entirely from their viewing experience (on the basis that they are a form of advertising).
I realise that people can disable them if they wish. But, I'd wager there are many that haven't figured that out.

@ shanethomas: you can turn off the social sharing buttons under "Account/ Customization" the second question turns them off or on.

|
shanethomas ·

@DancingDolphin> This removes them only from your own blog. This doesn't remove them from the PBlog experience (ie. when viewing the blog of a friend that hasn't disabled it or the blogs of those that haven't figured out how - I remain exposed to the adverstising and the terrible framing currently applies to the majority of sets).
I'm looking to have advertising removed from the overall experience (as purchased) or, as a compromise, moved from the top row so that it doesn't interfere with the framing of images.
Thanks for trying to help though.

Thank you.

@shanethomas: Sorry, but we don't consider it "advertising". It can help drive traffic to the user's blog, and we even removed our logo from the upper left hand corner of all blog pages (this was present even on pro accounts). Our logo has been replaced with your usernames, and the only mention on free accounts are now "Join photoblog" and "Powered by Photoblog" links. These links don't even appear on Pro accounts now.
@liveandletlive: Great suggestion. Will look to implement it sometime soon

@michael: then how about simply moving them (less than 30 seconds effort) to below the set or comments so that they don't interfere with the framing (they are brightly coloured buttons after all) of the sets?
Also, if the focus is driving traffic - can we have the "subscribe" button back?

Are people having any success with these buttons? I use Safari... wanted to share on facebook a photo on a friends site... clicked on the facebook button... went to my facebook AND ALL THAT SHOWED UP WAS THE AVATAR OF AN UNRELATED PERSON with a link which was a promo for PB! What I expected to share was the photo itself which would perhaps generate someones interest! The avatar and promo wouldn't interest anyone, I deleted all.
