Without a Favourite Image post once again, may I suggest you have a look at this http://www.guardian.co.uk/commentisfree/2011/sep/02/911-photo-thomas-hoepker-meaning which comes from today's Guardian, and is an article I found very interesting (but certainly not a "favourite" photograph).
Can I also suggest that the present format and place in the forum of MyFavPic makes it a difficult one to find, as is the diary list of participants. I feel that if this so interesting thread is to be continued, it needs to be represented - so that more people can easily find it. Oh yes, and it certainly needs a host.
