I have been invited to present some of my art at a local show. This is a first for me and I have two questions actually.

1. Should I display my work in frame or not and if so what type of frame?

2. How do I write an artists bio??

I appreciate the assistance.
Thanks, Karman

Great news Karman, congratulations, I hope you do really well with it!

Frames add $ to the price. I think at an local arts/craft show, you could do matted prints. That why the outlay for the customer is reasonable (considering they will maybe be making purchases from other vendors too) and also for you... you don't want to lay out cash on frames and then not sell them. You could frame up a few of your best pieces for display, so people could see how their potential purchase will look... as for what type, its entirely up to you. My personal preference is for simply black frames, white mats, but that's just me.

And as for an artist's bio or statement... when you figure that out, let me know. I have no clue, but I'd love to have one myself.

I'm not going to pretend I know a whole lot about this, but I have done a few shows and so have a bit of experience.

You can order your pics on canvas (shutterfly, etc.) if you don't want the expense of frames. Canvas prints seem to be selling quite well now as it is a win-win for both parties: the buyer doesn't end up with a frame that doesn't match the decor and you don't end up shelling out more dough than necessary. If you still want it traditional, I would go with McMommy and do just the matting. A bio is just your name, where you're from, and any other achievements/info you want folks to know about you. Like "John Smith is a landscape/portrait/whatever artist based in WhooLoo, Indiana. He has been published in Takingpictures magazine and won the best artist of the day award from the WhooLoo whatever publication."

Ignore my stupid fill-ins, I'm not making fun, just trying to use examples that aren't real, lol.

don't sweat it though, mainly have fun!!!!

Thank You all so much....
I do like the idea of the flat black frames because I can get them for about 2$ locally. Thank You McMommy for that idea )
Canvas prints would be so nice; but I am not sure where to get them done at. I actually liked the examples and fill ins...it made me smile and that is something I can use anytime.
Still trying to write this bio thingy..
Thank You All Again...still open to different ideas....I love ideas and can use all the help I can get.
