i can't seem to find the subscriptions function any more since a long while. it previously allowed me to subscribe to someone's blog and then get notifications by email where there was a new post on that blog.
has this function been removed?

To get the same functionality and more, you can use a service that allows you to receive emails based on the RSS feed of photoblogs. Here's one service you can use:
http://www.feedmyinbox.com/
The RSS for a photoblog is:
http://www.photoblog.com/rss/USERNAME
where USERNAME is the username you want to subscribe to
