OMG - George Clooney is really on Photoblog..... And I know tomie too. Mr. Clooney, if I emailed you a picture of yourself, could you autograph it, scan it and send it back to me for a keepsake???
I would be forever grateful....
BTW - I know tomie also (arf). I have a cup with his picture on it. If you ask, I am sure that he will send you one too. Just say "arf" at the end of your request...
Thank you in advance Mr. Clooney....
Your friend, danrav....

that was fun, I'm sorry I stopped sending individual hellos but the internet connection needs too much cranking here, also the oxgen supply in the atmosphere has been turned off and after the slightest exertion I do olympic sweating, the book sounds fun, if we're all going to buy it then maybe a percentage donation should go somewhere helpful, anyway hello bloggers with faces, including the ones who cheated by having beards

I was thinking the same thing about donating a percentage. Not sure how we decide who or what is the most useful place to give it to. So many possibilities. Suggestions very welcome. We may have to put it the vote .. )

I suggest the Child Burns Trust, which helps young burns victims receive plastic surgery (it's a good cause and relates to the project rather well, I think). I suggest that 100% of any income be donated to whatever charity is selected, not a fraction of it, and will withhold my consent otherwise (although excluding my fizzog will probably boost sales...). If this is done, I'm sure you can negotiate a better deal with the service provider. You'll also need the individual written consent of each participant. The terms of service binding PB and individual members do not apply to this. I can help draft the consent form if required.
I further suggest not organising a vote for the charity, which will generate a long, unwieldy and cumbersome process that may kill off any impetus this project has gained. Instead, ask people to send you a private message with their suggestion, make your decision and then ask everyone if they agree. Those who don't need not participate. I'm sure few people will refuse to help the worthy cause that you chose.

Please consider this worthy Organization ...
Autism International Foundation is making a difference for families and children affected by autism.
The Autism International Foundation (AIF) is a 501c3 charitable organization dedicated to providing financial assistance for services to children with autism throughout the world.
Internationally, our goal is to enable children with autism spectrum disorders to receive humane, "state-of-the-art" services. Within the U.S., we are dedicated to helping parents with assessment and advocacy needs during the crucial "optimal window of opportunity" between diagnosis and public funding. "AUTISM INTERNATIONAL"

When I made the suggestion for putting out a blurb book, I had no intention of having any profit generated from the sale of the book. As is the case with all blurb books, you can sell them for the publishing/creation cost. That was my intention.
1. Get a book assembled.
2. Post it as an item for sale on blurb.
3. Any PBer who was interested could purchase it for the bare-boned cost of the book. Zero profit intended - zero profit generated. Pure and simple people who wanted a blurb book of self-portraits could have one.
If folks have other ideas- go for it. I just wanted to clarify where my suggestion was coming from.
thanks
You have my permission to use my shot regardless of if there is a charitable or non-charitable slant to it.

I was thinking along the same lines as Dan... that this was just a book for PB-ers not something published for profit. Clarifying this would be good.

Thanks Dan
I'm going to call a halt on debate for now. I've got to make the book yet.... and, as previously mentioned, I have debilitating procrastination issues. Also kid is off school for the next 6 weeks so uninterrupted computer time is unlikely. I'll let you all know when it's finished and by then I will know how I want to do it.

I've been out of action with tooth-ache/abscess horrors for the last 3 weeks. Still feeling pretty feeble but on the mend at last. I plan to get started on it when Boy goes back to school in about a week.

Hoping to start doing the book next week. I've decided against donating to a charity. Too many to choose from to decide on one that everyone would be happy with.
Ryana has suggested combining the Self portraits with the Desk portraits. I like the idea but it might prove too ouchy and complicated. Thinking about it though.

 |
|
DancingDolphin ·

I think the idea of combing self portraits and desks sounds much more interesting! Each spread with a portrait on left and desk on right would make an interesting profile of people. That said there are other factors.
Something to consider is how many people are participating since a book has a limit to the number of pages. And cost: my Apple books max out at 100 pages and ends up costing about $100 in hard cover. Doubt anyone would be interested in buying at that price!
Then there is the business of collecting ALL the second shots and matching them up.... "Complicated" is probably true...

Still (like I too said before) it would be fantadtic to put portrait and deks together!!
