Challenge #13
Hello everyone. I'm back from my most recent travels. It was a working trip, but the work was really fun... taking photos and video around Tokyo and Kyoto, Japan. And it's been very busy since I got back last Friday. I have not even had a chance to view the results of challenges 11 and 12, never mind participate in them!
But now that I am back, everyone on the list should get the photo for Digital Editing Challenge #13 sometime on Friday, April 11.
What is the DEC?
The Digital Editing Challenge is just an exercise in fun, experimentation, and a chance to see multiple takes on one image. It's a great chance to show off your skills or just get more practice with digital editing. Beginner or seasoned professional, all skill levels are welcome. The main goal here is to have fun and stretch our creative muscles.
How does it work?
Each Friday I will send everyone an image via email. Edit the image anyway you like, using any software or technique you choose. Subtle or extreme, tasteful or gaudy, whatever, there are no rules here.
On the following Monday, post your version of the challenge image on your photoblog. Remember to use the title "Digital Editing Challenge" and add the tag "editingchallenge" to the post so we can all find your work easily with a tag search (if no one is commenting on your image, it may be that you forgot to tag it and we haven't found it).
How do I join?
If you want to join in, please send an email to
edbeals@gmail.com with the header "EDITING CHALLENGE". I will add you to the list of people who will receive the challenge photo on Friday.
Submit a photo for the challenge
A few people have asked about sending me photos to use as the challenge image. I think this is a great idea. So if you don't mind showing off one of your not-so-great photos (there's no point sending your best images, where would the challenge be in that?) then you can send it to me and maybe it will be the next challenge.
Only submit photos you took yourself.
I would prefer to avoid photos that include people unless they are not recognizable (ie from the back or a silhouette), or the person in the photo is you.
If I decide to use your image for the challenge I will contact you by email to let you know.
Only one submission per person per week please.
