i think the industry right now has an extreme influence on how we perceive reality. all digital cameras that i know (= amateur range; so 95% of what normal people use) produce a very unreal colour room, i.e. the colours look overexposed, too intense, the saturation is like crazy, the contrast is completely exaggerated...

the camera industry is trying to sell theirs shit, which is why cameras today need to produce better results than the old cams with film. you should click... and your picture should look "good" (i.e. exaggerated, colourful, with lots of contrast). that's what people want to impress their friends.

but over time, if we store this, we'll end up with memories that are dripping from all these colours and effects, so they accumulate to something similar like a LSD trip in our mind... completely unreal.

i don't know what to do about this... anyone out there thinking the same but is a bit further in dealing with this?

makes sense that you would think me a pentax marketing guy - since that was as piss poor attempt at marketing as is the norm for pentax. but no, i'm just a long time pentax user - since mid-1970's - so i do have something of a fondness for them. and the way they have chosen to handle their image processor gives a more 'film like' feel to digital images. a little softer and less saturated. i will say, however, that i may buy an olympus or a sony or a panasonic but never ever ever will i buy a canon or nikon. =)
