I just wrote a fairly long comment exceeding 1000 characters. Upon posting I got an error message about this, and all that I wrote was gone, too... Couldn't you put my comment back in the entry field, so that I may edit it again, or offer me the opportunity to send it as a message instead? Alternatively you could limit the textarea to 1000 characters input.
It's a little frustrating to take the time and write a long comment only to watch everything you wrote simply disappear...
