A Day at the Old Mill

2008.06.29
The Grain Mill at Bufordsville, Mo.

Extra rope used in the pulleys.

The limestone rock came from the surrounding area, but the red clay brick most likely came from Georgia.

This was a general store, but now it is a place to take photos and buy junk that someone doesn't want anymore.

This barrier forces the water through opening in the building where it turns the wheel, that turns to stone that grinds the wheat into flour.

A geared belt.

The spillway.

A forest much like where the timbers came fron for the mill and covered bridge.

This old mill and covered bridge is located in Bufordsville, Missouri. While not in operation now in it's day it could grind tons of wheat and corn. All of the timbers in the mill and covered bridge were cut from the forest surrounding the old mill. Normanly the water in the stream is crystal clear but due to heavy rains there was a stain to the water.
