I took these photos in late afternoon and used my flash to bring out the color. To get the stark black background I used a black trash bag stretched very tight, this is a old trick I learned from a old photographer friend. I keep a black and white trash bag in my camera bag when I want a nice background to cut out background items I don't want in my photo. Try it it's fun to experiment.

I've not seen weeds that colourful... great pics :)
the trash bags are a great idea, i will have to do the same! i didn't know hibiscus were considered weeds...well, i guess any plant you don't want is basically a weed : )
