The clothes line is alive and well in Australia! It takes about 3kw hours of electricity to dry a load in an electric dryer. Do that every day with a family and multiply it across about a million homes a day for a medium sized town and consider the power that's being used! Most of it is coal fired here. Consider the savings in green house gases by using the clothes line! Now, I need to collect a load of washing from the dryer in the morning... well, it was wet today.
