Hind legs are sprouting on these, just big enough to begin to perch on a rock beneath the water surface.

His trilling song was almost as golden as the light that illuminates his beak in this (overexposed) photo.

Fantastic insects – especially dragonfly #9, but also butterflies #17 (what a combination) and beetles #18 (they look like plastic toys). And these details of the frog's skin (#6), interesting.

I love the first photograph. I had a pet turtle when I was a child called Helga. Later on I nicknamed her Houdini as she was able to escape her aquarium regardless of the 'security' measures. i guess she was more of a (free) bird than a turtle.

I always love your pond posts! Unfortunately they are always so packed with favorites that I can't keep track of all of them! ;-) I love 1, 6, 10 and 13 in particular but so many great photos in this series!

I love this set as well - beautiful shots. So interesting to see the tadpoles turning into frogs. Isn't the process fascinating? The clouds over Chuck's meadow look like a dragon to me.
