Jharokas-- latticed windows for the Queen and other ladies to view the courtyard below. Carved out of red sand stone, it is a work of art!

Sheesh Mahal-- Palace chamber with thousands of mirror pieces and painted walls and ceiling.

Mehrangarh Fort, Jodhpur, Rajasthan, India.
A formidable fort, built 500 years ago is a photographer's delight.
Using red sand stone, it rises majestically on a hill top! Sand stone which is as hard as granite, is tough to carve. But see the lattice work in 3rd picture-- simply awesome!
Do not miss the traditionally dressed man at the entrance to the Fort.

trixpix I didn't know sandstone was as hard as granite! These are beautiful photos... see how the actually seems carved out of the mountain! The lacy jharokas are really gorgeous, one can picture young maidens peeping from behind those screens forming a lace curtain!
